As the fallout from hacking and subsequent data leaks spreads from commercial banks to savings banks and capital companies, a state of emergency has been declared not just in the financial sector, but across industries as a whole. Personal information leaks have been confirmed at seven companies so far, and financial authorities believe artificial intelligence was utilized in the cyberattacks.

With confirmation that numerous personal data leaks occurred in the financial sector due to hacking, the industrial and securities sectors have also begun inspecting their security systems.
Electronics and home appliance companies have blocked the attacker's internet addresses released by the Financial Security Institute and stepped up identification and protection measures for external access points that are already underway.
The securities industry is also sharing information on the attackers disclosed by financial authorities and conducting constant monitoring over the weekend for any attempted hacking.
Financial authorities have confirmed that a total of seven financial companies have suffered information leak damage so far.
Following four commercial banks including Shinhan, Kookmin, Hana, and Busan, as well as Yegaram Savings Bank and Hyundai Capital, it was confirmed that corporate customer information was also leaked at Welcome Savings Bank.
Given that there are institutions outside of these seven that successfully defended against hacking attempts, financial authorities believe this cyberattack occurred simultaneously across the financial sector.
Financial authorities, who held an emergency inspection meeting yesterday, noted the possibility that these hacking attacks utilized artificial intelligence tools.
[Lee Eok-won / Financial Services Commission Chairman (Yesterday): We cannot rule out the possibility of hacking attacks utilizing AI. We must accelerate the establishment of a security system where AI defends against AI attacks....]
According to investigation results so far, the same attacker's internet addresses, or IPs, were discovered across various breach sites, and it was found that the attacks were carried out continuously while changing IPs.
The hackers targeted auxiliary systems with relatively weak security rather than payment systems equipped with strong security.
Financial authorities have instructed banks and credit card companies to complete emergency inspections by tomorrow, and securities, insurance, and savings banks by October 8.
