The expansion project for National Route 45, a core transportation network for the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex being established in the Idong-eup and Namsa-eup areas of Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, has become a reality.

Yongin City announced today (August 12) that the project was recently put out to tender through a turnkey (design-build) method commissioned by the Seoul Regional Land Management Office.

The National Route 45 expansion project involves widening a 12.53-kilometer section from Daechon Intersection in Nam-dong, Cheoin-gu, through the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex, to Jangseo Intersection in Yangseong-myeon, Anseong, from the existing four lanes to up to six to eight lanes.

It is a national project with a total construction cost of 891.1 billion won.

Amidst large-scale development projects such as the Yongin Advanced System Semiconductor Cluster National Industrial Complex and the Yongin Idong Public Housing District, the local community has continuously voiced the urgent need for the early promotion of this project due to expected increases in traffic volume.

The city explained that this tender announcement has added further momentum to the project's implementation.

Mayor Lee Sang-il stated, "As semiconductors are an industry where speed is life and time is subsidy, we must also accelerate the expansion of infrastructure such as roads." He added, "The official launch of the National Route 45 expansion project signifies that the Yongin National Industrial Complex is making progress in its creation despite attempts by some political circles and anti-power transmission groups to shake it."
