Jang Yun-gi, the perpetrator who murdered a high school girl in Gwangju, has admitted that the motive for his crime was sexual assault, about two months after the incident occurred. The second trial was held at the court today (July 13), marking the first time he has acknowledged his intent to commit a sexual crime since the incident.

At the second trial for the Gwangju high school student murder case, held at the Gwangju District Court starting at 10:00 a.m., Jang Yun-gi waited with his head bowed, wearing a light brown prison uniform.

When the court asked for an explanation regarding the intent of the written statement submitted on July 10, The Attorney for Jang Yun-gi replied, "After the previous hearing, we consulted sufficiently with the defendant, and we agree to acknowledge the charges regarding the intent of rape and other crimes."

When asked by the presiding judge if he agreed with the statement made by The Attorney, Jang Yun-gi also replied, "Yes."

Since being arrested by the police on the day of the incident, May 5, and through the prosecution's supplementary investigation leading up to this second trial, this is the first time Jang Yun-gi has admitted that the motive was sexual assault.

During the first trial last month, Jang Yun-gi's side acknowledged most of the prosecution's charges but had reserved their position regarding the "intent to commit sexual assault."

Until now, Jang Yun-gi had claimed that the crime was impulsive, stating, "I had decided to commit suicide and intended to take someone with me."

During today's trial, the prosecution announced that it would submit additional evidence, including on-site forensic footage of Jang Yun-gi's vehicle where cable ties were found, and a forensic report on a "real doll" discovered in a damaged state at his studio apartment.

With the revelation through SBS reports that Jang Yun-gi's father is an incumbent police official in Gwangju, suspicions of poor investigation have spread widely as the supplementary investigation by the prosecution uncovered allegations of evidence destruction and collusion within the police force.

Jang Yun-gi's next trial is scheduled for July 27.
