A public opinion poll shows that President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating has rebounded for the first time in three weeks.

According to a survey conducted by Gallup Korea from June 30 to July 2 among 1,005 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, 54% of respondents gave a positive assessment of President Lee's performance.

This is a 3 percentage point increase compared to the previous survey.

President Lee's approval rating had been on a downward trend after dropping 7 percentage points to 57% in the second week of June, following the June 3 local elections.

The most cited reason for the positive assessment was "economy and public livelihood" at 24%.

This was followed by "diplomacy" (14%) and "generally doing well" (8%).

Respondents who negatively assessed President Lee's performance stood at 36%, up 5 percentage points from the previous survey.

The percentage of those who withheld their opinion was 10%.

Reasons for the negative assessment included "economy, public livelihood, and high exchange rates" (16%), "real estate policy" (9%), and "dictatorial and arbitrary governance" (7%).

In the survey on political party support, the Democratic Party of Korea recorded 41%, the same figure as last week's survey, while the People Power Party recorded 26%, down 1 percentage point.

The Rebuilding Korea Party and the Reform Party each stood at 2%, while the Progressive Party and the Basic Income Party each stood at 1%.

The proportion of independents with no party preference was 25%.

This survey was conducted using telephone interviews (CATI) with randomly extracted virtual mobile phone numbers.
