"North Korean Soldiers Right in Front of Me… So Scary," But It Turns Out

The first piece of Morning Hot Topics news.

There is a saying that you can drink coffee while looking at North Korean self-propelled artillery.

This is because a photo showing self-propelled artillery deployed by North Korean troops visible from a cafe at Aegibong Peak in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, recently became a hot topic online.

However, it turns out that this photo is very likely AI-generated.

Take a look at the photo.

Through the large glass window of the cafe, massive self-propelled artillery pieces and several North Korean soldiers holding red flags are visible.

Customers in front of the cafe are capturing the scene with their cell phones.

Such photos were posted online under the title "Current Status of Gimpo Aegibong Cafe."

Netizens reacted with comments such as "It's scary because it looks like self-propelled artillery is right in front of us" and "If you add an extra shot of espresso, won't you get hit by self-propelled artillery?"

However, the scene in the photo differs from the actual view from the cafe.

It is true that Aegibong Peace Ecopark, where the store is located, is the area closest to Kaepung County, Hwanghae Province, North Korea.

However, because the distance is about 1.4 kilometers apart, it is not close enough for North Korean troops and self-propelled artillery to appear right in front of your eyes like in the photo.

Therefore, speculations are rising that the photos you are seeing now are "images created with generative AI."
