These days, many older adults search for health information on YouTube, right?
The people explaining things look like doctors, but often they are not real doctors.
Out of 100 popular senior health-related YouTube videos, 42 were produced using generative AI, and 24 of these were found to impersonate experts such as doctors.
Some videos used fictitious expert names and even fabricated scenarios as if they had directly examined patients.
On the other hand, videos featuring actual experts amounted to only 6, and some AI-generated videos lacked even a label indicating they were made with AI.
In particular, there were quite a few anxiety-inducing contents, such as "If you eat eggs like this, it ruins your health" and "People in their 60s or older should not take baths like this."
When issues were raised, Google reviewed the related videos, shut down 10 channels, and deleted 31 videos.
