Authorities in India's Uttar Pradesh state announced that "at least 56 people have died over the three days starting from the 25th due to unusual torrential rains."
Around 1,000 houses are also reported to have been flooded.
India's Central Water Commission warned that major rivers passing near Uttar Pradesh, including the Ganges and Gandak rivers, have simultaneously exceeded danger levels.

Authorities explained that a low-pressure system formed over the ocean moved inland and poured down rain, resulting in torrential rainfall reaching nine times the average precipitation of the same period last year.
Floods also struck southern Nepal, which shares a border with India's Uttar Pradesh state, leaving at least 12 people dead and 7 missing.
Nepalese authorities stated that water levels in major rivers across the country continue to rise, and issued flash flood warnings for 49 out of a total of 77 districts.
However, areas such as Rasuwa in central-northern Nepal, where 7,500 people died or went missing last month, were not included in the high-risk zones for this flood.
