Ahead of Chuseok, tax accountants have stepped up to provide free tax consultations for small business owners and residents in rural and fishing areas who usually have difficulty accessing tax assistance.

The "Visiting Village Tax Accountant" program, co-hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Certified Public Tax Accountants Association, marks its 10th anniversary this year.

Free tax consultations conducted through the program have surpassed 400,000 cases.

As of last year, about 1,300 village tax accountants nationwide conducted a total of 50,700 tax consultations, averaging 37 cases per person.

At the event held to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the program, along with tax consultations, events for purchasing holiday supplies using local love gift certificates and promotions for the Hometown Love Donation Program were also held.
