Three drug offenders who smuggled narcotics into South Korea from various countries abroad and then fled overseas have been extradited and indicted in custody.

The Government Joint Investigation Headquarters for Drug Crimes announced that it has extradited to South Korea and indicted in custody four individuals: a person in their 40s identified as A, another in their 40s identified as B, a person in their 20s identified as C, and a person in their 30s identified as D. They had smuggled methamphetamine, heroin, ketamine, and other drugs from Thailand, the United Kingdom, and the United States into the country starting from April.

Person A, in their 40s extradited from Thailand, brought in 1.31 kg of methamphetamine worth 131 million won in Korean currency, while Person B, in their 40s apprehended in Laos, was found to have smuggled approximately 4.48 kg of methamphetamine worth 448 million won from Mexico into South Korea.

Additionally, Person C, a 20-something of Vietnamese nationality, was found to have imported 50 pills of MDMA worth 8 million won and ketamine worth 26 million won from the UK to South Korea. Person D, a 30-something Korean-American, also smuggled MDMA worth 9 million won and other substances from the US into the country.

The Joint Investigation Headquarters stated that these suspects fled overseas as investigations into their accomplices were underway, but authorities secured their custody through cooperation with local police and others, subsequently extraditing them to South Korea to be indicted in custody.
