The Korea Consumer Agency announced today (August 21), alongside the National Council of Consumer Organizations, that an analysis of consumer counseling cases received through the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center in July showed a sharp increase in inquiries related to mats and peaches.
According to the findings, total consumer inquiries last month reached 55,226, representing a 0.8% (425 cases) increase compared to the previous month.
The category with the largest surge in counseling was mats (422.5%).
Inquiries regarding exchanges and refunds increased due to voluntary recalls of infant mat products.
Other categories that saw significant increases included peaches (243.9%), air conditioners (50.7%), hotels and pensions (44.8%), and general lessons (37.3%).
For peaches, many inquiries involved consumers demanding refunds due to delayed product deliveries while being unable to reach the sellers.
The items with the highest overall counseling volume last month were fitness centers, air passenger transport services, and air conditioners, in that order.
By age group, inquiries for fitness centers were most common among people in their 20s and 30s, air conditioners for those in their 40s and 50s, and various health functional foods for those aged 60 and older.
In the event of consumer damages such as delivery delays or refund refusals, individuals can apply for counseling through the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center or Consumer 24 by preparing transaction details and supporting documents.
