President Lee Jae-myung appointed Special Prosecutor Lee this afternoon from among the candidates recommended by the National Recommendation Committee, according to Senior Presidential Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung.

If necessary, the investigation period can be extended twice by 30 days each.

The special prosecutor team will be organized on a scale of around 165 people, including 5 special assistant prosecutors and 70 special investigators.

The suspicions to be investigated by the special prosecutor team total 12 cases, including the ballot paper shortage incident and suspicions related to the National Election Commission's shoddy election management.
