Samsung Electronics has made a aggressive push into the premium market by unveiling three new foldable smartphones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 with a revised screen aspect ratio and the newly introduced high-end "Fold 8 Ultra" model.

The company is also accelerating the expansion of its AI-based device ecosystem by expanding agentic artificial intelligence (AI) across its entire foldable lineup, alongside new smartwatches and smart glasses.

Samsung Electronics held "Galaxy Unpack 2026" on July 22 (local time) at Old Billingsgate in London, United Kingdom, where it unveiled the new products and introduced its AI strategy.

Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 adopts a new screen aspect ratio with an increased width.

When folded, it measures 138.4 mm (5.5 inches, 10:16 ratio), and when unfolded, it measures 193.2 mm (7.6 inches, 4:3 ratio). The cover screen is optimized for everyday smartphone use, while the main screen maximizes immersion for viewing content such as videos, games, and reading.

It measures 9.7 mm thick when folded and 4.5 mm when unfolded, weighing 201 grams, the lightest ever in the Fold series.

As for the application processor (AP), it is equipped with Qualcomm's "Snapdragon 8 Elite 5th Generation for Galaxy," which was applied to the Galaxy S26 series.

The camera supports a 50-megapixel rear dual camera.

The newly added high-end lineup, the "Fold 8 Ultra," inherits the screen aspect ratio of previous Fold series while enhancing camera and multitasking performance.

The main display measures 203.1 mm (8.0 inches, 20:18 ratio) and the cover display measures 164.8 mm (6.5 inches, 21:9 ratio), offering a grip similar to that of a regular smartphone when folded.

It measures 8.9 mm thick when folded, 4.1 mm when unfolded—making it the thinnest Fold ever—and weighs 215 grams.

The rear of the Fold 8 Ultra features a 200-megapixel main camera, a 10-megapixel telephoto camera, and, for the first time in the Fold series, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera.

It supports "Nightography," a night photography technology, and 8K video recording, designed to enable users to complete everything from shooting to editing and content production on a single device.

AI-based multitasking utilizing the large screen has also become much smoother, powered by the high-performance AP.

It is equipped with a large 5,000 mAh battery and supports 45W fast charging and dual-pass charging.

Samsung stated that "Flex Titanium" technology has been applied to both products for the first time, improving durability and reducing screen creases.

The Flip 8, unveiled alongside them, was released with a weight of 180 grams—the lightest and thinnest in the series' history—and a thickness of 6.1 mm when unfolded.

Its cover display, the "FlexWindow," has been upgraded to an AI-centric interface, allowing users to check key information and interact with various apps without unfolding the phone.

In addition, the agentic AI features introduced in the S26 series in March of this year have been extensively integrated into the Z series as well.

Roh Tae-moon, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, holds up the Galaxy Z series during the Galaxy Unpack 2026 event held at Old Billingsgate in London, UK, on the 22nd (local time).
President Roh Tae-moon explained, "Most people start their AI experience on their phones. This is not only because people always carry their phones, but also because phones understand people better than any other device."

President Roh explained, "Agentic AI reduces the need for searches and switching between apps, helping you spend more time on what matters most. Through the connected Galaxy ecosystem, your AI experience seamlessly expands from your phone to your wrist (watch) and to the TV in your living room."

"Gemini Intelligence," featured for the first time through collaboration with Google, understands the user's screen and context to provide more advanced services.

It automatically runs about 40 apps such as delivery, reservations, and shopping, while independently handling complex tasks such as searching for and booking nearby restaurants and managing schedules. Personalized AI features such as "Now Nudge" and "Now Brief" are also supported.

All three products will be released in Graphite and Cream as basic color options.

As Samsung.com exclusive colors, Violet Shadow and Green Shadow will be added for the Ultra, Lavender and Pistachio for the Fold 8, and Pink and Mint for the Flip 8.

The factory price of the Fold 8 (256GB model) is set at 2,278,100 KRW, lowered by 101,200 KRW compared to its predecessor.

However, the Fold 8 Ultra is priced at 2,577,300 KRW, up 198,000 KRW from the Fold 7, and the Flip 8 is also priced at 1,683,000 KRW, an increase of 198,000 KRW from the previous model.

The new products will be rolled out sequentially worldwide starting August 7, with domestic pre-orders running from July 28 to August 3.
