President Lee Jae-myung stated that global companies' domestic investments are heading toward non-capital regions, saying, "I hope this enhances the competitiveness of local advanced industries, creates quality jobs, and opens more opportunities for local youth."
On his social media today (November 5), President Lee shared an article reporting that seven global companies reported $2 billion (approximately 2.8 trillion won) in investments to South Korea during the "Invest Korea Summit (IKS) 2026" event hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Regarding the investment pledges, President Lee emphasized, "Investments by global companies are also heading to the regions," adding, "It is particularly noteworthy that 97% of the total investment is concentrated outside the capital area."
He added, "We will create 'growth for all,' where investment and jobs increase in regional areas and where people anywhere in South Korea can enjoy opportunities for growth."
In another social media post, President Lee shared a news report that the "resting" population—which hit an all-time high last year—has shifted to a downward trend for the first time in four years, writing, "It is a relief, but we must make greater efforts. We still have a long way to go."
