The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that they have finalized the scale of financial incentives at 6.1 billion won to be provided to local governments that win the regional tourism innovation idea competition titled "Rising Star of Korean Tourism."
"Rising Star of Korean Tourism" is the first cooperative project of the MCST-Ministry of the Interior and Safety Regional Tourism Policy Consultative Body launched in July.
The public contest is open to metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide.
Local governments across the country can submit their ideas by October 20 across four categories: "tourism product innovation," "promotion of tourism consumption," "restoration of tourism trust," and "tourism income village."
Special grants will be differentially provided to a total of 13 local governments, including one metropolitan and one basic government for the grand prize, two metropolitan and two basic governments for the top excellence award, and seven basic governments for the excellence award.
The MCST plans to select the winning local governments through evaluations from the end of this month to early December and hold an awards ceremony in December.
