Regarding real estate supply policy, President Lee Jae-myung urged Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Hong Ji-sun, saying, "The fate of the nation is at stake. Please devise bold supply measures."
Senior Cheong Wa Dae Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said in a written briefing that President Lee made the remarks during a closed-door session of a cabinet meeting he presided over at Cheong Wa Dae, stating, "The role of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is critically important. Please commit all efforts to swift supply policies."
President Lee continued, "Please communicate the trend of changes following the recent increase in construction starts and move-in volume in the capital region to the public in detail," and instructed officials to do their utmost to secure sites for housing supply.
He also added, "Work diligently, including actively resolving staffing shortages at the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) and the transport ministry."
President Lee urged heads of related ministries as well, saying, "Approach your duties prepared to go to any lengths to ensure rapid supply."
He further instructed officials to proactively promote state affairs, noting, "Promoting the outcomes is just as important as delivering results."
President Lee explained, "When there are structural results achieved through changes in the government system, rather than accidental achievements, we must publicize them so the public can genuinely feel the impact."
Pointing out declines in workplace fatalities, suicides, and deaths caused by disasters and safety accidents—such as landslides, storms and floods, heatwaves, and water recreation activities—he stressed, "We must effectively publicize our administration's achievements in saving lives."
Regarding preparations for the National Assembly's upcoming parliamentary audit, he said, "While false attacks and excessive exaggerations must be countered, criticism itself is very valuable," adding, "We should appreciate the National Assembly's scrutiny, and rectify and complement any shortcomings."
