Adam Scott, Who Has Played in 101 Consecutive Majors, Becomes First Recipient of Spirit of Golf Award

Adam Scott (Australia), who has competed in 101 consecutive major golf tournaments, has been named the first recipient of the Spirit of Golf Award, the Associated Press reported today (July 16).

Established by The R&A, which organizes The Open Championship, this award is presented to individuals who embody the spirit of golf and demonstrate its values and traditions on a global scale.

Scott is set to compete in The Open Championship, which begins on July 16 at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in England, marking his 101st consecutive appearance in a major tournament.

This record is the second-longest in history, following Jack Nicklaus (United States), who holds the record with 146 consecutive appearances.

The R&A stated, "We plan to present this award annually, and recipients can include not only players but also organizations."
