Former NCT MARK Drops New Solo Track 'My Friend' Today

Having transformed into a solo artist, MARK is taking the first step on his new journey with the new track "My Friend".

MARK will release his new song "My Friend" at 1 p.m. today through various online music sites in Korea and abroad. "My Friend" is a medium-tempo pop track addressed to those pondering "what true love is" at the tail end of summer. Accompanied by a dreamy guitar loop driving the main theme, the song captures the moment of passing through a season and chapter to step into a new beginning.

In particular, "My Friend" holds added significance as MARK's first new release since establishing his creative company, Upper Room. Participating in the entire process from lyric writing and composition to arrangement, MARK delicately infuses his own message, kicking off his journey as a singer-songwriter in earnest by sharing more honest stories through this new release.

The music video refrains from using computer graphics or artificial effects, focusing instead on the scenes created by the music, the individual, and the space, thereby continuing the "Back to Basic" direction MARK has pursued. Director Gus Black, who helmed the music video for American singer-songwriter sombr—a winner at last year's MTV Video Music Awards—participated in the direction, capturing MARK's natural appearance and the emotional tone of the song with simplicity.

Debuting as a member of NCT in 2016, MARK concluded his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment and wrapped up all group activities with NCT and SuperM last April, departing the teams after 10 years of activities.
