Park Hae-il Calls 'The Assassin(s)' His First Film Centered on a Reporter

Actor Park Hae-il reflected on the significance of playing a character who demonstrates the mission of journalism and the duties of a reporter in the film "The Assassin(s)".

Attending the press and distribution preview for "The Assassin(s)" held at Megabox COEX in Samseong-dong on the afternoon of the 8th, Park Hae-il shared, "In Korean cinema so far, the role of a reporter has often been briefly touched upon rather than handled over a long breath as a central theme. Even when it was included, I think there have been few characters treated with such seriousness."

He continued, "It is true that I felt curious when the director first proposed the reporter role to me. In the past, when I was offered the movie 'War of the Arrows', the bow was usually just a secondary element in historical dramas. However, I found it intriguing that it was unraveled with the bow at the center. Similarly, I think 'The Assassin(s)' approached the profession of a reporter in that same way," revealing the point that captivated him about the film and his character.

In this work, Park Hae-il transforms into Jae-hwan, a reporter covering the assassination of the First Lady, delivering a passionate performance that exemplifies upright journalism.

"The Assassin(s)" is a story tracking the suspicions and masterminds behind the assassination of the First Lady on August 15, 1974, which shocked the Republic of Korea. Directed by Huh Jin-ho, who made "One Fine Spring Day", "The Last Princess", and other films, the movie stars Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Minho.

The film is scheduled to be released on September 23.
