Red Velvet WENDY Warns of Strong Legal Action Against Malicious Appearance Shaming and Harassment

Singer WENDY, formerly of Red Velvet, has warned through her agency that she will take strong legal action against malicious posts.

WENDY's agency, ASND, released an official statement on the 19th, stating, "We have previously announced through notices that we will take strict action against malicious slander, the spread of false information, defamation, and sexual harassment targeting our artist." They added, "Despite this, we continue to confirm malicious reviews, belittlement, sexual objectification, and sexually harassing posts and comments targeting the artist's appearance and physical body up until recently."

The agency emphasized, "In particular, all acts that infringe upon the artist's personality and rights, such as specifically mentioning or reviewing the artist's body in a sexual manner, mocking and belittling her appearance and body, and maliciously spreading false information, are clear defamation that cannot be seen as mere opinions or freedom of expression." They further stressed, "We will take strong action against acts that infringe upon the artist's rights and interests."

Online, alongside expressions simply expressing concern for WENDY's health or sharing opinions about her appearance, posts crossing the line into malicious remarks and sexual belittlement that infringe upon her character have indeed been continuously identified.

Meanwhile, WENDY is actively engaged in promotions as both a singer and a radio host.

On the 3rd, she released the group Red Velvet's new mini-album "Velvet Summer," drawing significant attention, and on the 17th, she participated as a featured artist in Jun. K's digital single "Your Lips." In addition, she continues to communicate steadily with listeners and lead the program as the host of SBS Power FM's "Wendy's Young Street," which celebrated its 2nd anniversary on the 19th.
