On the morning of the 12th, a press conference for the Netflix variety show "Take a Hike!" was held at Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Producers Nah Yung-suk and Park Hyun-yong, along with singer Car, the garden, DAY6 member DOWOON, actor Lee Chae-min, and ALLDAY PROJECT's TARZZAN, attended the event.
"Take a Hike!" is a hiking variety show featuring four involuntary hikers who have lived their entire lives avoiding mountains, as they embark on their very first winter snowy mountain expedition. Producing Director Park Hyun-yong shared behind-the-scenes stories, saying, "When casting the members, I didn't mention anything about hiking."
In response, Car, the garden confessed, "I thought it was nonsense. I was worried about how bad the rumors would spread if I dropped out." DAY6's DOWOON also added, "It felt like I was scammed into a job. I planned to follow Car, the garden if he took the lead and dropped out, but he stuck it through so well that I was disappointed," bringing laughter to the room.
In particular, Car, the garden revealed the betrayal he felt from the production team, saying, "I was originally preparing to file a lawsuit or report them to a current affairs program." However, he joked, "After finishing a exhausting hike, as I was leisurely walking back to my accommodation, Producer Nah Yung-suk was alone drinking half a bottle of soju while watching the golf channel. I thought to myself, 'Even this great person has gloomy days, and he must have pulled off this employment scam because his mind was twisted,' so I decided to let it slide," causing an outbreak of laughter.
Car, the garden also shared a unique viewing point. He stated, "If you all enjoy watching it, I suppose it cannot be helped, but I am worried because if the show does well and Producer Nah tries to send us back to the mountains, I won't have the willpower to resist that temptation."
He went on to raise cheerful expectations with his unfiltered talk, saying, "Lie down comfortably in your rooms and laugh out loud while watching others suffer. Especially if you don't like me or thought 'Why is Car, you know, acting up so much?', watching this will make you feel very good."
Producer Nah Yung-suk was also taken aback by the cast's honesty. Producer Nah admitted the reality, saying, "At first, I expected a story where, after going through severe hardships, they would realize the joy of the mountains, hug each other, and shed tears. But times have changed. These friends are modern youth, and they were so exhausted that they couldn't bear to even look at the mountains or the sunrise."
He added, "No matter how magnificent a mountain we took them to, I never heard them say it was wonderful. Instead of extracting fun and emotion through hardship following traditional variety show formulas, we will be showing a hardship variety show twisted by today's youth of 2026," asking for high expectations.
"Take a Hike!", which captures the meeting between Egg is Coming and Netflix along with the unpredictable struggles of the four members in a snowy mountain, consists of 10 episodes in total and will premiere on Netflix on the 18th.
