'Animal Farm' Shares Heartwarming Rescue Story of Injured Dog 'Kkeutsooni' with 5.3% Peak Rating

The dramatic rescue mission of "Kkeutsooni," a white dog wandering the streets suffering from a severe skin disease amidst a heatwave, delivered a deep emotional resonance to viewers at home.

During the August 2 broadcast of SBS "Animal Farm," the rescue operation for Kkeutsooni, who was precariously enduring hair loss and raw, inflamed skin, was revealed. The broadcast recorded a viewership rating of 4.6% and a peak rating of 5.3% based on metropolitan households by Nielsen Korea, with the moment Sooin and her husband rescuing Kkeutsooni taking the "best one minute."

Not long ago, an unfamiliar white dog appeared in front of the home of Sooin and her husband, who have rescued, treated, and embraced stray animals in Damyang, South Jeolla Province. Seen up close, the white dog was in a state where standing was difficult due to hair loss, raw sores all over, and heavily swollen legs. With the sentiment of hoping "this is the last sick creature we meet on the road," the couple named the dog "Kkeutsooni" and began taking care of her.

Given that she was very wary and tied with a leash, they also needed to check whether an owner existed. Carefully confirming the ownership of Kkeutsooni, who was painfully walking while licking her sore body under a 33-degree scorching sun, the production team and the couple set out on a full-scale rescue.

The first direct rescue attempt failed due to Kkeutsooni's nipping, but Sooin switched to a method of carefully luring her inside the yard and, with the help of a professional rescue team, finally succeeded in transferring her.

As a result of hospital examinations, Kkeutsooni's immunity had collapsed due to demodectic mange and a bacterial infection, leaving her in a critical condition suspected of sepsis along with severe anemia that made a blood transfusion urgent. Fortunately, thanks to quick treatment, she was able to be discharged a few days later with her swelling subsided and a comfortable face.

Looking at Kkeutsooni recovering, Sooin expressed her hope that she would someday meet a good home and wanted to leave her with the warm experience of being with a family at home.
