As TWICE enters their second contract renewal season, rumors regarding the future of some members are being raised one after another.
According to the music industry on the 14th, the possibility has been raised that TZUYU, a Taiwanese member of TWICE, may not renew her contract with JYP Entertainment and could seek a new agency. There are also predictions that even if TZUYU leaves JYP, she will continue to participate in TWICE's full-group activities.
Regarding this, JYP Entertainment maintained a cautious stance, stating, "TWICE is currently in the contract renewal discussion period, and we will inform you as soon as matters are confirmed."
Previously, it was reported that TWICE member JEONGYEON had a meeting with Varo Entertainment, the agency where her older sister, actor Gong Seung-yeon, is signed, which raised the possibility of a transfer. At the time, Varo Entertainment acknowledged that they had met with JEONGYEON but stated that nothing had been confirmed regarding a contract.
Since their debut in 2015, TWICE has built unparalleled popularity in Japan and expanded their activities to the global market, including the United States, demonstrating solid influence even in their 11th year. In 2022, all nine members renewed their contracts with JYP, overcoming the "seven-year jinx," and have since actively continued world tours and album activities.
The possibility that TWICE's full-group activities will be maintained even if some members leave JYP is being discussed. This is a method where individual activities are conducted under each member's respective agency, while group activities are carried out with the existing agency. Previously, BLACKPINK also chose a method where group activities are conducted with YG Entertainment, while members' individual activities are carried out under different agencies.
