A man in his 40s has been sentenced to prison after voice analysis revealed he had produced child sexual exploitation material 13 years ago.
The Busan District Court's Criminal Division 7, presided over by Judge Lim Ju-hyeok, sentenced the man, identified as A, to four years in prison today (July 7) on charges including violating the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles against Sexual Abuse.
The court also ordered A to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program and imposed a five-year ban on his employment at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled.
A was indicted in April on charges of posting illegal footage online and possessing child sexual exploitation material over a period of about one year starting in July 2024.
When A denied some of the charges, the prosecution conducted a supplementary investigation. Through voice analysis by the Supreme Prosecutors' Office, they obtained results confirming that the voice of the man in a video filmed in 2013 matched A's voice.
Based on these findings, the prosecution added charges of producing and distributing child sexual exploitation material against A.
It is reported that A eventually confessed to all the charges during the trial.
The court stated, "While the defendant has confessed to all crimes and is reflecting on his actions, and there does not appear to be a specific profit-seeking motive, the nature of the crimes in this case is poor. In particular, crimes involving child and adolescent sexual exploitation material are inherently very serious."
The court further explained the sentencing, saying, "Despite having a prior record of similar offenses, the defendant committed the crimes again. Considering all circumstances, a significant prison sentence is inevitable."
