Starting next month, rates for ultra-fast chargers at public electric vehicle charging stations will increase, while fees for slow chargers will be reduced.
The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announced that it has finalized a plan to restructure the public EV charging fee system based on these changes.
Currently, the rates for chargers installed and operated by the Ministry are 324.4 won per 1kWh for chargers with an output of less than 100kW, and 347.2 won for those with an output of 100kW or more.
Once the revised system is implemented, the rate structure will be divided into five tiers.
For chargers with an output of less than 30kW, the rate will be 295.0 won per 1kWh; 307.2 won for 30kW or more but less than 50kW; 325.6 won for 50kW or more but less than 100kW; 348.4 won for 100kW or more but less than 200kW; and 393.1 won for 200kW or more.
The Ministry explained that for chargers with an output of less than 30kW, which account for nearly 90% of all chargers, the rate will effectively be reduced by 9.1% compared to the current price.
On the other hand, rates for high-speed chargers with an output of 200kW or more, which make up about 2.3% of all chargers, will increase by 13.2%.
