4 Million Won Worth of Goods Stolen, But No Punishment? Perpetrators Are Minors Under Criminal Age

In late May, two middle school students stole 4 million won worth of Pokémon cards from an unmanned store in Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province. After checking CCTV footage, the store owner tracked down the culprits by using a sales post uploaded to a second-hand trading platform as a lead.

However, the students were all under the age of 14, classifying them as minors exempt from criminal punishment. Furthermore, the parents of the students could not even be reached. The store owner expressed frustration, stating that they have received neither compensation nor a proper apology.
