The Busan Gangseo Police Station announced today (June 26) that the suspects departed for Brunei via Incheon International Airport at approximately 11:00 a.m. on June 24, the day after the incident.
The suspects are a man in his 20s from Australia and a man in his 30s from Belgium.
They are accused of breaking into the Busan Transportation Corporation’s Daejeo Depot in Gangseo-gu, Busan, by climbing over a fence near the test track at approximately 2:51 a.m. on June 23.
They are also accused of fleeing the scene at approximately 3:09 a.m., just about 18 minutes after leaving graffiti at the depot.
Upon receiving a report from the Busan Transportation Corporation, the Busan police requested cooperation from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and the Incheon Airport Police Corps to track the suspects.
However, authorities faced difficulties in apprehending them.
During their escape, the two individuals wore masks and changed their clothes two to three times.
Investigators found that they used cash and chose different drop-off points for their transportation to confuse police tracking efforts.
It was confirmed that after the crime, they traveled to Seoul via KTX and then headed to Incheon International Airport.
Police identified that the suspects had left the country around 6:00 p.m. yesterday (June 25), more than a day and a half after their flight had departed.
A police official stated, "Now that their specific identities have been confirmed, we plan to pursue their repatriation through an Interpol Red Notice."
The official added, "We intend to conduct a thorough investigation, including matters related to damages."
