The Korea Real Estate Board (REB) announced that it will launch a pilot project for "association operation consulting" starting June 29 in collaboration with Daegu Metropolitan City to strengthen the operational capabilities of redevelopment and reconstruction associations in their early stages.
Previously, administrative oversight of urban renewal project associations has focused primarily on inspections by local governments. This approach has faced criticism for being reactive—focusing on post-facto measures such as filing criminal complaints or issuing corrective orders after illegal activities are discovered—which can lead to project delays.
In response, the REB plans to refine the system through the pilot operation with Daegu City and officially roll out the consulting service to urban renewal project associations nationwide starting next month.
Eligibility for the support program includes redevelopment and reconstruction associations that have been established for less than two years or are in the pre-construction company selection phase. Other associations may also apply if they require assistance.
The consulting covers all aspects of association operations, including service contracts, administrative procedures, budget and accounting, and information disclosure.
Experts, including representatives from the REB, local governments, lawyers, and accountants, will visit the sites to provide customized advisory services.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Future City Support Center website of the Korea Real Estate Board.
Following the initial consulting, the board plans to monitor improvements and address additional pending issues, with follow-up consulting sessions to be provided if necessary.
