Man Arrested for Threatening Shop Owner with Weapon Over Delivery Rider Noise Complaints

A man in his 50s has been apprehended by police for threatening a shop owner with a weapon, claiming that delivery riders frequenting the store were too noisy.

The Gwangju Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that they have arrested the suspect, identified as a man in his 50s named A, on charges of special intimidation and are currently investigating the case.

A is accused of threatening a woman in her 50s, identified as B, with a 28-centimeter-long weapon in an alleyway in Taejeon-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, at approximately 11:40 p.m. last night (June 21).

Investigations revealed that A, who lives near the dessert shop operated by the victim, had been harboring grievances over noise caused by delivery riders gathering in front of the store. He committed the act after encountering the victim by chance.

Upon receiving a 112 emergency call from the victim stating, "Someone is approaching with a weapon," the police issued a "Code Zero" alert and dispatched officers to the scene.

After searching the area for about 10 minutes, police apprehended A, who was wandering nearby, as a suspect caught in the act.

It was determined that A was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

The victim reportedly stated that she had no prior acquaintance with A.

The police are currently considering requesting an arrest warrant for the suspect.
