Netflix's new original series 'The East Palace' has released its first official stills, capturing a mysterious time and space and heralding the birth of a brutal thriller.

'The East Palace' tells the story of Gu-cheon (played by Nam Joohyuk), who possesses the extraordinary ability to traverse the realm of ghosts, and Saeng-gang (played by Roh Yoon-seo), a court lady harboring a deep secret. Summoned by the King (played by Cho Seung-woo), the two team up to unravel a bloody curse plaguing the East Palace. With its unique universe bridging the real world and the spirit world, a gripping narrative, and the highly anticipated chemistry of a trusted cast, the series is already drawing immense global expectation.

Released on June 22, the new stills perfectly capture the beautiful yet eerie atmosphere of the palace, sparking curiosity about the mysterious events set to unfold within its walls.

The first image to catch the eye is that of the King holding Prince Yeongan (played by Jo Dan) in his arms. While a fleeting moment of fear and desperation crosses his face as he cradles his son, he exudes an overwhelming and chilling authority in the scene where he forces Gu-cheon to his knees. Curiosity is mounting over why this cold, rational King—who has never believed in curses or ghosts—would suddenly summon the "ghost-slayer" Gu-cheon to the palace, and what complex narrative binds the two men together.

Under the King's command, Gu-cheon joins forces with the court lady Saeng-gang to investigate the brutal curse and mysteries surrounding the palace. A striking two-shot of Gu-cheon walking into a pond with a rope tied around his neck, alongside Saeng-gang resolutely drawing her bowstring, instantly commands attention.

In particular, Gu-cheon in the "realm of ghosts" heightens the tension to its peak with a sharp gaze and a chilling aura that contrast sharply with his appearance in the real world. The eerie atmosphere and the red energy swirling around him intensify curiosity about this mysterious, otherworldly dimension that he traverses at will.

Additionally, another still captures Saeng-gang focusing all her senses on a mysterious sound echoing from the void. Born with the unique ability to hear the voices of ghosts, expectations are high for the pivotal role she will play in connecting the real world with the spirit world.

The bizarre black vines tightly wrapping around the King's bedchamber, along with Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang standing side-by-side by the pond to cross over into the spirit world, hint at the prelude to an extraordinary event. All eyes are on the desperate struggle of these characters as they draw closer to the true nature of the curse and the depths of its secrets.

Following the teaser trailer, the release of these visually stunning stills signals the arrival of a global sensation. The Netflix series 'The East Palace' will premiere worldwide on Friday, July 17, exclusively on Netflix.
