RM (real name Kim Nam-joon), the leader of the group BTS, will promote Korean cultural heritage to the world alongside the National Museum of Korea.

The National Museum of Korea announced on June 20 that it has appointed BTS member RM as its global ambassador.

RM has consistently demonstrated a deep interest in traditional Korean culture and art, exerting a positive influence.

He previously donated 100 million won each in 2021 and 2022 to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation under the Korea Heritage Service, with the request that the funds be used for the preservation, restoration, and utilization of Korean cultural heritage located abroad.

An avid art collector, he is also scheduled to hold a special exhibition of his private collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in the United States this October.

This marks the first time the National Museum of Korea has appointed a global ambassador.

Moving forward, RM will participate in various promotional activities for the National Museum of Korea and contribute to introducing Korean history and traditional culture to the world.

Following his appointment on June 19, RM toured the exhibition "Danwon Kim Hong-do, Painting the Era," held in the calligraphy and painting gallery on the second floor of the permanent exhibition hall, accompanied by National Museum of Korea Director Yoo Hong-jun.

The museum presented RM with a "Daedongyeojido Scroll Special Edition," a cultural product created by scaling down the original "Daedongyeojido" (Great Map of the East Land), which is considered the definitive map of the Joseon Dynasty.

Regarding his appointment as ambassador, RM expressed his thoughts, saying, "I am very pleased. I will work together to ensure that the beauty and value of our cultural heritage can be shared with more people."

Director Yoo Hong-jun stated, "It is meaningful to be able to share the beauty of our cultural heritage with the world together with RM. I expect him to play a major role in helping the National Museum of Korea establish itself as a museum loved by people around the globe."
