The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced that it will collaborate with the Ministry of Science and ICT to support investment attraction and overseas expansion for domestic broadcast content at the '2026 Korea International Streaming Festival' held in Busan.

In partnership with the Korea Communications Agency and the Korea Radio Promotion Association, the KCC will host special programs including an international streaming summit special session, screenings, investment showcases, a global Over-The-Top (OTT) awards ceremony, and promotional booths.

The event, co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Busan Metropolitan City government, will take place from today (June 18) through June 21 at the Busan Cinema Center and the Paradise Hotel area to expand global cooperation in the domestic OTT and Free Ad-supported Streaming TV (FAST) industries.

The KCC explained that its participation follows an agreement on cooperation in the OTT and FAST sectors reached during a vice-ministerial policy consultation held on June 10 with the Ministry of Science and ICT to strengthen digital and media policy cooperation.

On the opening day today, the KCC is operating a special session at the international streaming summit to introduce trends in the U.S., European, and Asian OTT markets, as well as market-entry strategies for each region.

Screenings of works supported by the KCC will also be held at the Busan Cinema Center.

The event will feature a screening of the drama 'Taxi Driver 3,' a program supported by AI and digital-based production funding, followed by a talk with the audience featuring director Kang Bo-seung and actors Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram.

On June 20, a private investment showcase will be held for domestic and international OTT and FAST-related investors to introduce the supported works 'Rookie Director Kim Yeon-kyung Season 2' and 'A Real Man's Way of Traveling Season 2.'

At this event, the commission plans to share case studies on the use of AI technology to explore possibilities for overseas investment and distribution partnerships.

The KCC also plans to participate in presenting the award for the Best Short-form category at the global OTT awards ceremony.

Park Dong-ju, Secretary General of the KCC, stated, "The combination of high-quality content and competitive platforms is crucial," adding, "We will actively support the mutual growth of the platform and content industries through cooperation between relevant ministries and the industry."
