National Housing Sales Sentiment Enters 'Rising' Phase in May, Led by Seoul and Gyeonggi
Amid the continued rise in housing prices in parts of Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, housing sales sentiment was found to have increased last month.

According to the real estate market consumer sentiment survey results released by the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements (KRIHS) today (June 16), the national housing sales market consumer sentiment index for May rose 4.7 points from the previous month to 116.7, shifting into a "rising" phase.

The real estate market consumer sentiment index is surveyed every last week of the month, targeting real estate agencies and general households in 152 cities, counties, and districts across the country.

An index exceeding 100 indicates that there are more responses suggesting that prices have risen or transactions have increased.

The index is categorized into a "declining" phase if it is below 95, a "steady" phase if it is between 95 and under 115, and a "rising" phase if it is 115 or higher.

The Seoul metropolitan area maintained its "rising" phase, with the index rising 6.1 points to 125.2.

Seoul (135.6) saw a significant increase of 10.7 points, while Gyeonggi (122.2) rose 4.5 points and Incheon (111.8) increased by 1.7 points.

Non-metropolitan areas (106.3) rose 2.3 points, continuing in a "steady" phase.

The consumer sentiment index for the housing jeonse (long-term deposit rental) market nationwide was 113.2, up 1.7 points from the previous month, maintaining a "steady" phase.

Seoul (124.2) rose 4.8 points and Gyeonggi (118.1) rose 3.0 points, while Incheon (109.2) fell 2.2 points.

The Seoul metropolitan area as a whole (119.0) rose 3.0 points, continuing its "rising" phase.

Non-metropolitan areas remained in a "steady" phase, rising 0.2 points to 106.3.

The national real estate market consumer sentiment index (111.4), which combines housing and land, rose 2.7 points from the previous month.
