"Notes from the Last Row" is a suspense drama that follows Heo Mun-oh (played by Choi Minsik), a failed writer and professor of Korean literature, who discovers the genius of Lee Kang (played by Choi Hyun-wook), a boy sitting in the very last row of his classroom, and becomes obsessed with his writing.
On June 11, Netflix released the main poster and main trailer for its new original series "Notes from the Last Row".
The released main poster creates tension by capturing Heo Mun-oh and Lee Kang exuding contrasting atmospheres between the bookshelves. Unlike Heo Mun-oh's face, which is filled with confusion, Lee Kang wears a mysterious smile as if he holds the key to all events, hinting at a reversed dynamic between the teacher and student. In addition, the copy "The end of the story is twisted" heightens anticipation for the unpredictable events that will unfold before them.
The accompanying main trailer sparks curiosity, starting with a conversation between Heo Mun-oh, who is confused after reading Lee Kang's writing and says, "That's just your imagination," and Lee Kang, who counters, "It's not imagination, it's deducing the situation."
Lee Kang, who begins receiving private literature lessons, enters a friend's house, translates the events there into his own writing, and continues to cross the line. Heo Mun-oh scolds him, saying, "A writer shouldn't do that," but finds himself uncontrollably drawn into Lee Kang's writing, becoming consumed by madness. Subsequent scenes, including a mysterious car accident and a fire, hint that their story will spiral into catastrophe, raising curiosity.
Promising a powerful acting ensemble between Choi Minsik and Choi Hyun-wook along with a highly immersive story, the Netflix series "Notes from the Last Row" will be released on Netflix on Friday, June 26.
