People Power Party Audit Committee Chair Files Petition to Invalidate Seoul Mayoral Election, Citing "No Relation to Party Position" Lee, a law professor at Kookmin University, stated on his personal blog today, "I have filed an election petition with the Seoul Metropolitan Election Commission today." He added, "This procedure is being taken as a private citizen, completely unrelated to my position as the chair of the People Power Party Audit Committee." He further explained, "Initially, I intended to have 63 Seoul citizens act as petitioners for symbolic purposes, but because some people viewed it through a biased lens or expressed concerns that I had not anticipated, I decided to file the petition on my own." In the petition, Lee wrote, "A shortage of ballots was concentrated in 33 polling stations in Seoul alone, and there is no legal basis for printing only 50% of the required ballots." He further claimed, "Even that decision was made arbitrarily by election commission staff without a collective agreement from the commission as a deliberative body." According to the Public Official Election Act, voters, candidates, or political parties that nominated candidates may file a petition with the competent election commission within two weeks of the election date if they have objections regarding the validity of the election.
