Seven puppies have been found abandoned one after another in bushes, stuffed inside plastic bags and boxes in Seoul's Seongbuk District. Believed to have been abused, with their mouths tied with rubber bands and bearing injuries, all the puppies were found in close proximity, raising suspicions that they were abandoned by the same person.

Reporter Yeo Hyeon-gyo has more.

Office worker Jung Min-ji spotted a black plastic bag wriggling here on the night of November 2.

[Jung Min-ji / Rescuer of the abandoned puppy: At first, the bag was twitching like this. Thinking a rat or a bird might be inside, I opened it, and there was a puppy with its snout tied up, mixed in with household waste.]

The puppy inside the bag had its mouth tightly bound with a rubber band and could barely walk.

When taken to a veterinary hospital, it was found to have an abdominal hernia and a torn ear.

However, at around 6:00 a.m. the next day, another puppy with a fractured hind leg was found inside a bag near the Miarigoe Pass by a different citizen, and the following night, five more puppies were discovered all at once.

The location where these puppies were found once again is near the bushes here, about 500 meters away from the first spot.

They were packed in boxes or wrapped in wrapping cloths, and some puppies even had their mouths taped shut.

A total of seven abandoned puppies were found in this area over the span of three days.

The three discovery sites are within a radius of about 1 kilometer from one another, and the methods of abandonment were similar, raising the possibility that the acts were committed by the same individual.

[Park Young-heon / Lawyer: Even if the abandoned animals are not injured or killed, the act of abandonment itself can be punishable by a fine of up to 3 million won.]

Jung, who is currently caring for the puppies, plans to file a formal complaint with the police soon with the help of an animal protection organization.
