Jung Jeom-sik, floor leader of the ruling People Power Party, emphasized today (November 5) at the SBS Digital Forum (SDF) held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul that as artificial intelligence (AI) technology advances, human judgment and a sense of responsibility become even more critical.
In his congratulatory remarks, Floor Leader Jung said, "AI has gone beyond transforming our daily lives to reshape cutting-edge industries, national security, and the global order," adding, "Utilizing AI and surrendering our sovereignty of thought are two different matters."
"We must not depend on AI even for matters that humans should directly think about and decide," Jung continued. "It is time to discuss specific standards on how much we should leave to AI and who should take responsibility for the outcomes and to what extent."
He also stressed, "The more AI develops, the more important human capabilities and a sense of responsibility become," adding, "Utilizing technology in alignment with our values is the way to protect our sovereignty of thought."
Mentioning that world-class experts ranging from science and technology to the humanities and arts have gathered at this year's SDF, Jung expressed his expectation that "they will delve into these issues more deeply than any other forum."
"The People Power Party will also listen attentively to the opinions presented today and spare no effort in providing necessary legislative and budgetary support," he promised.
Marking its 22nd anniversary this year, SDF 2026 is being held under the theme "The Age of Alternative Intelligence: Questioning Sovereignty of Thought," discussing human judgment and autonomy in the AI era, as well as issues of control and responsibility over technology.
