The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (Oct. 19) that a total of 20 mid-level officials in charge of foreign affairs from Chinese local governments will visit South Korea from October 19 to 23 as the second delegation for the 2026 South Korea-China Future-Oriented Exchange Program.

The Chinese delegation, consisting of division-to-section chief level officials from foreign affairs offices in regions including Beijing, Guangdong, and Jiangxi, is scheduled to tour Seoul, North Jeolla Province, Gyeonggi Province, and other areas.

In particular, they are reportedly planning to visit the Saemangeum Development Agency and the national industrial complex—following a visit by a delegation of bureau director-level officials in June—to explore possibilities for cooperation between local governments from both countries regarding the Saemangeum project.

During the bilateral summit last November, South Korea and China discussed ways to revitalize investment in the Saemangeum industrial complex, which has been designated as a South Korea-China industrial cooperation zone.

Previously, the first delegation consisting of bureau director-level officials visited South Korea in June.
