The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today (October 18) that it will conduct intensive inspections on 75 private construction sites through November 13 in cooperation with the Korea Construction Equipment Association and other organizations via a joint task force on resolving wage arrears at private sites.

This round of inspections is part of the "intensive crackdown and voluntary reporting period for illegal subcontracting" operated by the ministry from October 12 through the end of the year, expanding the scope from public construction sites to private ones.

For these inspections, 15 personnel, including inspectors from the ministry's headquarters and five regional offices, will be deployed to the Gyeongsang region to intensively inspect private sites alongside the Construction Equipment Association.

To promote the reward system for reporting illegal subcontracting, sites previously reported to regional offices and those experiencing wage arrears have been included in the inspection targets, with plans to promptly verify the reported details and actual construction conditions.

Previously in May, the ministry formed a public-private joint support team for resolving construction site arrears led by the first vice minister to intensively inspect construction sites in the capital area. The team uncovered 29 cases of illegal subcontracting and 60 other legal violations, while resolving 11 cases involving 125.8 million won in unpaid construction equipment rental fees.
