A 13-year-old boy was apprehended by police after holding a knife inside a moving Gyeongui-Jungang Line train.
At around 5:10 PM yesterday, an emergency 112 report was filed stating that a male student was holding a knife on a Gyeongui-Jungang Line train passing near Goksan Station.
The report stated that the student was spinning and flashing a utility knife, approximately 20 centimeters in length, in front of other passengers.
Upon receiving the report, police deployed patrol cars to the station where the train was scheduled to stop and apprehended the student.
During police questioning, the boy stated that he had purchased the knife to cut plastic for a school club activity and was holding it in his hand because he thought it would poke a hole in his pocket.
He also claimed that he had no intention of threatening other passengers.
After the investigation, police handed the student over to his guardian and plan to review whether to book him on charges of carrying a weapon in a public place.
