The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will launch a pilot online group reservation service for the Magok and Jamsil piers starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 19th.
Currently, the Hangang Bus operates on a first-come, first-served basis where passengers receive numbered tickets on-site to board.
The city explained that group passengers, such as companies, schools, and institutions, have faced difficulties confirming their boarding in advance, leading to continuous demands for a reservation service.
In response, the city decided to pilot the online group reservation service exclusively on weekdays at the Magok and Jamsil piers.
The service applies to all weekday sailings available through Naver Maps or Naver Places, allowing reservations for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 30 people.
Users can search for and select a pier, click the reservation button, enter information such as the date, route, and number of passengers, and make an advance payment for the base fare (3,000 won for adults, 1,800 won for teenagers, and 1,100 won for children).
Reservation passengers must arrive at the pier at least 30 minutes before departure on the day of boarding and complete procedures such as verifying their reservation details and submitting a boarding report under the guidance of on-site safety personnel.
Reservations and refunds can be made up until 11:59 p.m. the day before boarding, and the opening dates for daily reservations will be announced separately on the reservation page.
Hangang Bus, the operator of the service, plans to secure new group demand through the online group reservation service and improve operational efficiency by knowing the number of reserved passengers in advance to manage boarding and deploy on-site personnel.
In addition, the company decided to review whether to continue the service and expand it to other piers based on a comprehensive review of operational performance and user feedback.
"We have introduced this pilot service to alleviate the boarding inconveniences faced by weekday group passengers and to allow them to use the Hangang Bus more conveniently," said Park Jinyoung, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Hangang Project Headquarters. "We will strive to provide services that meet the demand of more citizens."
