In Nepal, where massive floods caused by landslides led to heavy casualties last August, another round of landslides and floods has struck. With villages swept away and bridges washed out, more than 10 casualties have been reported so far.

A massive torrent of water carrying dark mud surges downstream along a mountain canyon.
As the dark floodwaters strike, buildings with green roofs vanish in an instant.
A bridge collapses helplessly and is swept away by the massive current.
According to local time in Nepal, floods accompanied by landslides occurred along the Budhi Gandaki River in the early hours of today (11th), striking the Gorkha district.
Dozens of houses in the area have reportedly collapsed, along with the destruction of at least three bridges and hydroelectric power facilities.
About 10 people are currently reported missing, and the Nepalese military authorities announced that 49 people have been rescued.
The Nepalese military has deployed helicopters and ground troops to rescue stranded people, and the scale of casualties is expected to rise further.
The Nepalese government believes the floods occurred when a natural alpine dam formed by melted glaciers was destroyed by a landslide, sending a wall of mud sweeping downstream.
The situation is similar to the major floods in the Trishuli River basin that occurred on August 26.
During the major floods last August, about 1,400 people died and 6,600 others went missing in Nepal and the Jilong County area of Tibet, China.
At the time, nine South Koreans, including six employees of Doosan Enerbility and three employees of Korea South-East Power who were constructing a hydroelectric power plant at the disaster site, remain missing.
