President Lee Jae-myung on Wednesday (October 7) presided over a briefing session on the Korean Green Transformation (K-GX) strategy and the "K-GX Signature Project," a private investment initiative.

Organized under the slogan "Beyond the Climate Crisis to a Green Future, K-GX," the event was attended by key government officials, including Lee Hyoung-il, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and Kim Sung-whan, Minister of Climate, Energy and Environment.

From the business and industrial sectors, about 80 attendees took part, including Chey Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, industry experts, and representatives from companies participating in the K-GX Signature Project, such as Hanwha Qcells, POSCO Holdings, LG Electronics, and Samsung Electronics.

In his opening remarks, President Lee stressed his determination to pursue K-GX, which he unveiled as one of the three core visions of the "K-Initiative" during his keynote address at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22.

During that UN General Assembly keynote speech, President Lee stated, "Through the K-GX strategy, we will transform our industrial structure and pioneer a virtuous cycle where carbon neutrality leads to new growth engines and quality jobs."

Chairman Chey also delivered remarks in his capacity as head of the private consultative committee under the public-private K-GX task force.

"A virtuous cycle must be established in which AI accelerates the green transformation, and the green transformation in turn supports the sustainable growth of the AI industry," Chey said, underscoring the importance of creating a collaborative platform among the government, corporations, and civil society.
