Financial authorities have confirmed that a total of 7 financial companies have suffered information leaks so far.
Following four commercial banks including Shinhan, Kookmin, Hana, and Busan, as well as Yegaram Savings Bank and Hyundai Capital, it was additionally confirmed that corporate customer information was leaked from Welcome Savings Bank.
It is estimated that around 2,200 pieces of corporate customer-related information, such as corporate representatives' names, emails, and phone numbers, were leaked.
As some institutions successfully blocked hacking attempts alongside the 7 affected ones, this wave of hacking attacks occurred simultaneously across the financial sector.
In response, financial authorities held an emergency inspection meeting during the holiday, attended by representatives from the entire financial industry, including commercial banks, secondary financial institutions, internet-only banks, and fintech companies.
Financial authorities noted the possibility that this hacking attack utilized AI tools.

According to the investigation results so far, the same attacker's IP address was found in multiple security breach sites, and it was identified that the attacks were carried out continuously while changing IPs.
The hackers targeted auxiliary systems with relatively vulnerable security rather than heavily secured payment systems.
Web page servers or mobile devices used for work by loan brokers or employees served as the "backdoors" for stealing information.
There were also cases where malicious code was installed on servers, administrator privileges were obtained, and customer information was stolen.
President Lee Jae-myung instructed that "thorough investigations and measures be taken with the utmost care" regarding this matter.
Financial authorities have ordered banks and card companies to complete emergency inspections by the 6th, and securities, insurance, and savings banks by the 8th.
