A man in his 60s died after being struck by an electric commuter train on the northbound tracks between Uiwang Station and Sungkyunkwan University Station on Subway Line 1 in Yuljeon-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, at around 6:00 a.m. today (October 3).

The accident caused delays of about two hours and 40 minutes in northbound train operations.

Authorities reported that 12 regular and commuter trains experienced delays ranging from 10 to 30 minutes each.

Southbound trains operated normally.

Approximately 150 passengers aboard the accident train transferred to a following train.

Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) deployed an initial response team upon the occurrence of the accident and requested assistance from the police and fire authorities to manage the accident scene.

A KORAIL official stated, "We believe the casualty accident occurred due to unauthorized entry onto the tracks."

Police reported no apparent signs of foul play and are investigating the exact circumstances based on statements from the train engineer.
