Seven people were injured following a hydrochloric acid leak at a chemical factory in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.

According to the Bucheon Ojeong Police Station, the accident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. today (October 2) at a chemical factory in Nae-dong, Ojeong-gu, Bucheon.

As a result of the accident, seven people, including factory personnel, complained of headaches and dizziness and were transported to the hospital.

Police believe the leak occurred while hydrochloric acid was being transferred from a vehicle.

At the time of the accident, the vehicle was carrying two containers holding 1 ton of hydrochloric acid each. Authorities found that one of the containers broke, causing the acid to leak.

The city of Bucheon issued an emergency alert advising residents to "close windows and refrain from going outside" and urging drivers to "detour around the area."

Fire authorities conducted neutralization work using slaked lime and other substances before handing the site over to Bucheon City.
