Yoo Hai-jin·Yim Si-wan·Kim So-hyun·Lee Moo-saeng Team Up for Occult Film 'Modeup'

Actors Yoo Hai-jin, Yim Si-wan, Kim So-hyun, and Lee Moo-saeng have teamed up for the occult film "Modeup" (romanization).

"Modeup" is an occult mystery film that tells the story of people entangled like an untieable modeup (knot) on a remote island where visitors have been cut off for a long time in the 1960s.

Actor Yoo Hai-jin, who led the box office success of "The King's Warden", which ranked second in all-time box office admissions with 16.92 million viewers, is returning with his second occult film following "Exhuma". In the film, Yoo Hai-jin plays "I-do", the head of a fishing village. "I-do" is a character who protects the fishing village and guards the remote island, leading the plot at the center of events connecting the past and the present. Yoo Hai-jin, who has built an unrivaled filmography with performances in every project that make him completely one with his characters, will be working alongside Yim Si-wan as a father-son duo this time.

Ahead of the first shooting, Yoo Hai-jin shared, "We are starting filming together in the breezy month of September. I hope we can finish filming safely and do our best to create a great project."

Yim Si-wan, who has shown continuous powerful transformations through projects such as the "Squid Game" series and the film "The Attorney", takes on the role of "Sang-gun", the son of "I-do". He is a character who charges straight ahead once he sets his mind on something, and he heads to the remote island against his father's objections triggered by a request from "Seon-ok". Attention is focused on the new facet that Yim Si-wan, who has proven a broad spectrum ranging from comedy to action and drama, will show in this new genre.

Kim So-hyun, who has built her own acting color across eras and genres through projects such as the dramas "Good Boy" and "River Where the Moon Rises" and the film "The Last Princess", takes on her first occult genre challenge through "Modeup". Ahead of her return to the big screen in about 10 years, she plays "Seon-ok", who heads to a remote island to cure an unknown illness, drawing "I-do" and "Sang-gun" into unpredictable events. This marks a long-awaited reunion with Yim Si-wan since "Moon Embracing the Sun", delighting fans.

In addition, Lee Moo-saeng joins the cast as "Goo-taek", the father of "Seon-ok", completing a solid acting ensemble. "Goo-taek" is a character who sets out to find the remote island with a last shred of hope to save his daughter suffering from bizarre symptoms, standing at the starting point of all the events.

"Modeup", which is drawing attention for its fresh casting combination, is directed by Park Jong-hyun, who built solid on-site experience working in the directing departments of films such as "A Normal Family" and "Broker".

Director Park Jong-hyun expressed anticipation for his first feature-length directorial debut, stating, "I am excited and looking forward to creating my first project with such wonderful actors and reliable staff members.
