Actors Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong have chosen director Lee Chang-dong as the primary reason for starring in the movie "Possible Love".
Attending the production presentation for the film "Possible Love" held at Hotel Naru Seoul M Gallery on the morning of the 25th, the four actors shared a single unifying reason for joining the project.
Jeon Do-yeon stated, "The biggest reason was that it is the director's film. When he offered me the role, I asked for the scenario right away, worried that the movie might fall through or go wrong."
She added, "After reading the script, the lingering resonance was tremendous. I thought to myself, 'As expected, it's director Lee Chang-dong.'"
Sul Kyung-gu said, "For me too, director Lee Chang-dong was the biggest factor. However, when he offered me the role, my schedule didn't allow for it, which made me break out in a cold sweat. After listening to the director talk about the project for an hour, it drove me crazy. So I asked for some time to adjust my schedule. I want to take this opportunity to thank director Kim Hong-sun of "Mousetrap" for helping coordinate my schedule."
Zo In-sung shared, "I received the call in Latvia while filming "HUMINT". Having filmed "HOPE" and "HUMINT" back-to-back, I had planned to take a break. But after hearing about the offer, I thought, 'I have to do this project before I rest.' Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, and Cho Yeo-jeong are all colleagues I've been dying to work with, so there was no reason not to do it."
Cho Yeo-jeong answered, "My schedule happened to work out. Working with director Lee Chang-dong was something I had long hoped for, so receiving the offer was almost bewilderingly wonderful. After reading the script, like Do-yeon unni said, the lingering impression was deep. I spent about three days pondering whether I had the emotional depth to pull off this movie before reaching out to them."
"Possible Love" follows a dismissed worker, his wife, a documentary director, and her husband as two couples meet to produce a documentary, confronting their different lives and hidden desires. It is highly anticipated as the first new film in eight years from director Lee Chang-dong, a representative figure in the Korean film industry, starring Sul Kyung-gu, Jeon Do-yeon, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.
As director Lee Chang-dong's first Netflix film, "Possible Love" will unusually have a theatrical preview release on September 23 before meeting global viewers on November 6.
