False Reporting of Missing Person Led to Failure to Save Both Lives

The more we look into this case, the more speechless we become.

On August 24 (today), Jang Mi-ran, a missing woman in Jeju Island, was ultimately found dead.

May the deceased rest in peace.

We also extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family who held onto a glimmer of hope.

This case must not end here.

Police Officer Boo, who has been revealed to have covered up Jang's case.

Officer Boo is also strongly suspected of having covered up a missing person report for a family breadwinner in his 60s.

Why on earth has he been committing such acts?

Especially as a police officer, who is supposed to be a pillar of the people.

While holding Boo thoroughly accountable for this incident, we must completely reform the system in which a single police officer receives and independently closes missing person reports.

Otherwise, similar incidents will continue to repeat.
