On the morning of the 20th, a press conference for the new Netflix series "Mousetrap" (written by Lee Jae-gon, directed by Kim Hong-sun) was held at Hotel Naru Seoul M Gallery in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Actors Ryu Jun-yeol, Sul Kyung-gu, Lee Kyu-hyung, and Director Kim Hong-sun attended the event to talk about the project.
Based on the hit webtoon of the same name, "Mousetrap" is a chase thriller that follows novelist Moon-jae (played by Ryu Jun-yeol), whose name, face, and life are entirely stolen by a mysterious entity known as "Mousetrap," loan shark No-ja (played by Sul Kyung-gu), who tries to recover lost money, and detective Sun-yong (played by Lee Kyu-hyung) as they track down the truth behind Mousetrap.
In the series, Ryu Jun-yeol takes on a dual role as both the reclusive genius writer Moon-jae and the figure who steals his life, while Sul Kyung-gu stars as the loan shark No-ja, who gets caught up in the incident while trying to track down his money.
At the event, Sul Kyung-gu did not hold back his praise for working with Ryu Jun-yeol, saying, "Jun-yeol is truly cute and comfortable to work with. He studies so hard and brings a lot of ideas about me. I received a lot of help from him to the point where I would sometimes shoot an extra take after hearing his opinions." He added, "We had many scenes moving around in cars, so the two of us shared a lot of casual conversations and had a great time."
In response, Ryu Jun-yeol also shared his feelings, saying, "I've been watching the senior actor since about 10 years ago. There were chances for us to work together along the way, but things kept falling through until we finally met in the same project. I think meeting him through this project is great timing."
Ryu Jun-yeol continued, "He is so comfortable, and he is always open enough that you can say whatever is on your mind." He expressed his gratitude, saying, "As I complete each project, I feel more strongly that who you meet as a colleague and what kind of work you do matters more than the result. Working with him feels like it will fill in many parts of my remaining acting career and serve as a model for me. I was happy and grateful to work with him."
Meanwhile, the 10-episode series "Mousetrap," which is raising expectations for the powerful acting synergy among Ryu Jun-yeol, Sul Kyung-gu, and Lee Kyu-hyung, is set to be released via Netflix on the 28th at 5:00 p.m.
