Fifteen people, including foreign tourists who visited to ride the Songdo Marine Cable Car in Busan, were stung by wasps, prompting a response from the fire authorities.

According to the Busan Fire and Disaster Headquarters today (August 18), a 119 report was received stating that a wasp-stinging incident occurred at the Songdo Marine Cable Car near Amnam-gongwon in Seo-gu at 12:00 PM today.

As a result of the incident, 15 people—including two infants, three children, and 10 adults—were stung, 12 of whom were transported to the hospital.

The victims included 11 foreign nationals: five from Taiwan, five from China, and one from Thailand.

It was determined that most of them were tourists who had come to ride the cable car.

The fire authorities cordoned off the accident site and requested the management office to broadcast safety announcements warning people of the hazardous area.

An official from the fire department stated, "A large number of casualties occurred as wasps, provoked for unknown reasons, flew around."

The fire authorities incinerated and removed a wasp nest measuring about 40 centimeters in diameter located in a tree within Amnam Park.
